Hamad International Airport (HIA), Qatar’s new world-class gateway to the world, announced an increase in its monthly passenger statistics compared to those at the old Doha International Airport (DIA). HIA saw an 11.36% passenger increase through its doors in July 2014 compared to July 2013. A total of 2,160,843 travellers departed, transferred and arrived into Qatar during July 2014, showcasing the new airport’s global standing as an international transit hub.

Cargo numbers have also increased at HIA with an additional 12.76% traffic in July. All cargo operations are now operating out of the new airport where the facility is fully automated, creating a seamless experience for both the cargo agents and customers.

Badr Al Meer, Chief Operating Officer at HIA said: “We are happy to see that so many more passengers are choosing to fly to Qatar and through our new, world-class facility. Over the coming months and years we will continue to grow and ensure every passenger has the best possible experience at our airport, whether they be departing, arriving or in transit.”
