In a bid to work even more closely with South Africa and with the South African business community, the Seychelles Ministry of Tourism & Culture has signed an MOU with the very well-known Springbok and Bulls scrumhalf, Mr. Francois Hougaard, and with Kirschlee Naidoo from AdrenalX, South Africa. The event was held on the designer golf course of the Constance Lemuria Resort & Spa on Saturday, July 26, 2014 on Praslin Island. The aim of the MOU is to promote sports tourism in South Africa but above all is to officially launch and promote โ€œThe First Seychelles Open Golf Tournament and Wellnessโ€ event which will be held in July 2015 at the Constance Lemuria Resort & Spa.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, signed the MOU on the Seychelles side in the presence of the Hon. Marc Volcere, the Elected Member of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Praslin Constituency; Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board; Anne Lafortune, the PS for Tourism; and Benjamine Rose, the PS for Culture.

Hougaard and his team were in Seychelles from July 24-27. He was accompanied by his agent Gert Van Der Merwe, Director Marketing at One Sport; Willemien Lensing, Image rights attorney; Mark Steven Tovey, Sales Director, Nike Golf Sport Africa; Marsha Parcou, Regional Manager, Seychelles Tourism Board based at the Pretoria Office; and Kirschlee Naidoo, Director for AdrenalX. The delegation stayed at both the Constance Ephelia and the Constance Lemuria Resorts which are set to become the official partners for the golf tournament & wellness event.

During his short stay on the two islands, Hougaard enjoyed a short yoya and spa session at Constance Ephelia Resort & Spa. He also had the opportunity to join the Takamaka Bay Golf Tournament at the Constance Lemuria Resort & Spa on Saturday, July 26, whereby the delegates met with the other golfers from Seychelles. Thanks to Mr. Louis Dร“ffay, the team enjoyed a beautiful, authentic Creole lunch on the beach at the LArchipel Hotel followed by a short fishing trip which helped the South African delegation to discover the diversity of the Seychelles islands. โ€œSeychelles is the most beautiful place I have ever visited; the friendly people, amazing resorts, spectacular scenery are more like paradise on Earth,โ€ said Hogaard. He further added, โ€œWe are looking forward for a great relationship with the Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Seychelles.โ€

Minister St.Ange said after the signing of the MOU that Seychelles enjoys friendly ties with South Africa which also remains a tourism target market for the islands. South Africa KwaZulu Natal was a co-host of the islandsโ€™ 2014 Carnaval International de Victoria alongside La Reunion, Madagascar, and Mayotte Islands.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP) .
