EILAT, Israel – The Israeli military intercepted a missile over Eilat – a popular resort on the Red Sea, which is under fire for the second time in 17 days of the Israeli counter-terrorist operation against Gaza Strip militants.

According to Eilat police, there were no casualties and destruction reported in this southern Israeli city and the officers were combing the surrounding areas in search of the fragments of the missiles that could have fallen there.

“Earlier today air defense system “Iron Dome” intersepted the missile over Eilat” – wrote the military on Twitter.

Israeli military would not elaborate on where the missile came from. Numerous times in the past though, Eilat, located at a considerable distance from the Gaza Strip, was fired upon from neighboring Egypt.

Ten days ago, three missiles exploded within Eilat city limits. Two people were injured and several cars were burned in that attack.
