The Seychelles Tourism Board is set to conduct its first ever roadshow in India to educate the Indian travel trade community about Seychelles as a tourism destination for Indian holiday makers. This coming roadshow is set to also facilitate interaction between the Seychelles’ private sector and Indian travel agents.
The Seychelles delegation that will be led by the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Mr. Alain St.Ange, will also include Ms. Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, and her Director of Marketing, Mrs. Rose-Marie Hoareau. They will be joined by destination management companies, hotels, the business community, and the National Cultural Troupe from Seychelles. The roadshow will be held at Le Meridien in New Delhi on August 4 and at The Trident, in Mumbai on August 6. A delegation of the island’s business community with links to India is also set to travel to India with Minister St.Ange and his delegation.
The tourism board’s India office opened last year and since then has seen a positive response from the travel trade community and an increase in the number of Indians traveling to Seychelles. Commenting on his trip to India, Minister Alain St.Ange said: “We are now ready to work to claim our fair share of the very important Indian market. The roadshow is just a start. Our local business partners are ready to work with us, and we are on the verge of making a big announcement that will bring to the front, the new level of cooperation between India and Seychelles. We look forward to the support of the Indian travel trade community in our efforts to promote Seychelles.”
The Seychelles islands have a lot to offer in making it an ideal holiday option for the Indian holiday makers on a honeymoon; family vacation; and adventure, eco-tourism, and luxury holidays. For the Indian travelers, Seychelles is known to be the holiday destination for island-hopping breaks which enables one to explore the diversity of each of the island’s flora, fauna, ethnicity, architecture, cuisine, traditions, and activities. The Seychelles are also known to offer excellent diving, fishing, trekking, eco-holidays, spa and wellness, and golf. Seychelles remains an amazing melting pot of cultures which can be witnessed through events like the Carnaval International de Victoria of April and the Creole festival of October. It, of course, has the world’s best beaches and two UNESCO World Heritage sites.
Last year, Seychelles launched its first ever Seychelles-India Day Celebrations – highlighting the fact that India is one of the five historical lines that make the Seychellois people what they are today. To mark this spectacular event, some 52 Bollywood stars and other Indian national dignitaries flew to the islands to participate in the celebrations which is now included in the Annual Seychelles Calendar of Cultural Events. Recently, Seychelles was named the Best International Destination for Relaxation at the Lonely Planet India Magazine’s Readers Travel Awards event.
