SOUTHAMPTON, England – The stage is set and final voyage tickets are selling as Cunard Line prepares for the return of Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter James Taylor and his band during the 27 August 2014 Transatlantic Crossing. The legendary American artist will appear aboard Queen Mary 2 on the heels of his successful summer tour, earning accolades from the Orange County Register, The Seattle Times and other press. Iconic songs such as โ€œFire and Rainโ€ and โ€œCarolina In My Mindโ€ continue to enchant audiences around the country and will heighten the 10th anniversary celebration for Queen Mary 2.

Recent music reviews have praised Taylorโ€™s relaxed demeanor that transforms large venues into intimate, warm experiences for audiences. His smooth voice and authentic energy can transport fans back in time to when they first heard โ€œYouโ€™ve Got a Friendโ€ and โ€œHow Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You).โ€ Queen Mary 2 passengers will have this same transformative opportunity at two concerts in the shipโ€™s Royal Court Theatre during the eight-day Crossing from New York to Southampton, England, via Halifax, Nova Scotia.

โ€œFans who have read about James Taylorโ€™s recent tour still have the opportunity to join us for a memorable Transatlantic Crossing with this American legend,โ€ said David Dingle, CEO for Cunard Line. โ€œOur guests will be thrilled to enjoy this intimate concert experience with a music icon, which will make this milestone Crossing that much more memorable.โ€

Best known for his mellow voice, guitar style and simple, powerful lyrics, Taylor has inspired generations of audiences and young musicians throughout his career. His records have sold more than 100 million copies, earning gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards. Industry recognition includes multiple Grammy awards and induction into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame. His international appeal extends to the highest offices, as he has earned the distinguished Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government and the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama in a White House ceremony.

James Taylor first performed on Queen Mary 2 in 2009, to standing room only audiences.

Taylorโ€™s second visit builds on the long history of legendary entertainers who have graced Cunard Line decks over nearly 175 years. Elizabeth Taylor, Rita Hayworth, Cary Grant and Clark Gable frequently crossed the Atlantic on Cunardโ€™s earlier Queens, Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth; and since Queen Mary 2โ€™s debut 10 years ago, the flagship has welcomed musical notables such as jazz legend Dave Brubeck, Rod Stewart and Lenny Kravitz.

The glamour and diversity of activities on Cunard Lineโ€™s Transatlantic Crossing treat sophisticated travellers to new experiences and memories. Each Crossing aboard Queen Mary 2 features a series of Royal Nights themed balls on the largest dance floor at sea in the Queens Room; and the Royal Court Theatre which presents West End-style musical revues and guest performers.
