The travel industry in India has welcomed the Railway Budget presented today, saying that it will help boost domestic and international tourism, especially rail tourism.

Subhash Goyal, President of the Indian Association of Tour Operators, said that the issue of faster e-ticketing and a faster server has also been taken up in the first railway budget of the Modi government.

Goyal said that bullet train plan between Mumbai and Ahmedabad was another good proposal, as were the plans for better railway stations and stress on water, hygiene, and food courts.

The passenger fares and freight charges have not been increased, while nearly 60 new trains are to be started.
