Air New Zealand celebrates a decade of flying San Francisco-Auckland

Air New Zealand will celebrate 10 years of service from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on Monday, June 30.

The Auckland, New Zealand based airline originally began three times per week service to the South Pacific on June 30, 2004 and the route has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Currently operating daily flights between San Francisco and Auckland, with regular connections to eight Australian destinations, Air New Zealand will step that up to double daily flights with 10 return services per week for the peak period from mid-December to March 2015. Double daily flights will operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Air New Zealand’s Regional General Manager for the Americas, UK and Europe, Chris Myers, says, “The Auckland – San Francisco route is a key part of our long haul network and we are very proud to have been delivering our unique Kiwi service on this route for a decade now.”

In an exciting development for San Francisco travelers, Air New Zealand will introduce its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to this route from mid-July meaning passengers from SFO will have the opportunity to experience the airline’s exclusive Premium Economy Spaceseat™. The highly innovative Spaceseat™ is specifically designed to give Premium Economy passengers a welcome sense of space and privacy.

Air New Zealand’s 777-300s are also fitted with the airline’s unique Economy Skycouch™, a row of three Economy seats that together create a couch-like space to relax on. The 777-300 aircraft will operate from San Francisco twice a week initially, increasing to six services per week over time.

Air New Zealand will be celebrating 10 years in San Francisco with a themed check-in area and departure gate lounge and the gift of a special commemorative pin for all passengers on NZ7 departing for Auckland on Monday, June 30 at 9:30 p.m.
