On the 22nd of April 2014 World Tourism Forum Lucerne has organised a Talent Boost event in Shanghai together with our new partner school in Shanghai, the East China Normal University. Chinese Executives from the travel and tourism industry talked with our World Tourism Forum Lucerne partners Value Retail, Kempinski, Korn/Ferry and Swissnex about how our industry can become more attractive for Young Talents and the Next Generation and what actions have to be taken. Have a look at a short report and some pictures. We will organise a Talent Boost event every second year together with one of our partner universities. The next one will be held in spring 2016.
The Talent Boost was more than just an event. It was the start of long-term cooperation between World Tourism Forum Lucerne and Shanghai. Shanghai is heavily pushing the development in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Shanghai will be one of the big players in the coming years with a huge potential for everyone. World Tourism Forum Lucerne carefully evaluated a possible partnership and decided to start a strong coopera-tion with Shanghai Government. The signed Memorandum of Understanding is the start for a long-lasting and fruitful partnership in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. Different milestones have been set. The highlight will probably be an own World Tourism Forum Lucerne in Shanghai in autumn 2016.
This Forum shall take place every second year. This will allow us as of 2016 a yearly Forum: one year in Lucerne, the other year in Shanghai. To endorse our intention in China/Shanghai we are setting up an own repre-sentative office in Shanghai, led by our WTFL Representative in China, Jianguo Xu.
