LOS ANGELES, California – “We are very proud about our achievements, and the recent successful re-certification,” said Thomas Barguil, General Manager at the Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa in Thailand. “We are always researching new methods or technologies to help us reducing our eco-footprint. It may be simple steps, such as watering our garden with recycled water, or changing plastic shampoo and soap bottles to glass containers in every guest room, we do make every possible effort to protect the environment.”

A Green Globe top performing member for years, the Anantara Hua Hin Resort & Spa is continuously reinforcing its commitment to environmental, social, and cultural conservation. This luxury resort shines with a proactive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm to implement sustainability practices at all levels of the business.

Energy and water consumption is minimized in all areas of the resort and a reduction target has been set in line with Anantara Group requirements of at least 10% annually. The resort combats pollution through reducing, reusing and recycling solid waste which impacts landfills, and by cooperating with a local waste management company. Packaging is reduced to a minimum and local suppliers focusing on products that are durable and recyclable are given preference. Guests are invited to join local social awareness programs offered by the hotel, and indigenous culture is integrated into everyday experiences.

Anantara has always been known for its strong CSR based community initiatives, and the Hua Hin Resort has implemented the ‘365 Days of Good Deeds’ program. Here, guests can combine their luxury Anantara stay with opportunities to participate in a range of good deeds that help local communities and the environment. With the ‘Kings Cup Elephant Polo Tournament’ over $600,000 has been raised for various projects that help elephants throughout Thailand. All papers from the resort are recycled and donated to the local school for blind. The school utilizes the recycled paper to create Braille cards for their students. Recycled materials, such as plastic from drinking yoghurt bottles and aluminum from can rings are donated to Thai Red Cross Hua Hin for prosthesis productions. The Hua Hin team organizes beach clean-up days on a monthly basis.

All Anantara properties across Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, China, the Maldives, and the Middle East immerse in local initiatives that give back to the community and environment, enhancing the social and environmental surroundings of each Anantara destination. Whether it’s rescuing street elephants in Thailand, marine turtle protection in Phuket, coral rejuvenation in the Maldives or supporting local farmers in Indonesia, Anantara is dedicated to carrying out a corporate social responsibility program at a grassroots level in each of its exotic locations around the world.
