Travel industry spent $297,500 lobbying in 2Q

WASHINGTON – The Travel Industry Association of America, whose members include airlines, hotels and tourism agencies, spent $297,500 lobbying on visa requirements, State Department funding and other issues during the second quarter, according to a recent disclosure form.

The group also lobbied on travel documents, consular operations, border inspections, airport operations and funding for the Commerce Department.

The group lobbied the departments of Commerce and Homeland Security, the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget, Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the April-June period, according to the report filed July 18 with the House clerk’s office.

Members of the group include several major airlines, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Six Flags Inc., and Best Western International Inc.
