A 34-year-old would-be sex tourist from Saskatchewan was sentenced on Friday in an Arizona court to four years in a U.S. prison.

Bradley Hanaback pleaded guilty in March 2008 to arranging a trip to Mexico for the purpose of having sex with a minor, according to a U.S. Justice Department news release.

The judge also ordered Hanaback to serve a lifetime of supervised release upon completing his jail sentence.

Hanaback, who pleaded guilty to one count of travel with intent to have sex with a minor, admitted that on Oct. 23, 2007 he was in Arizona en route to Mexico to have sex with what he believed was a 10-year-old boy.

According to the factual statement, he had previously responded to an advertisement for a child sex tour in Mexico, and paid a $50 deposit in order to arrange this trip.

After confirming his desire to engage in various sex acts with the boy, he was arrested by federal agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
