LONDON (August 6, 2008) – Home Office Minister Lord Alan West will meet with the recipient of the 500,000th free passport issued to people from Britain’s wartime generation tomorrow, Thursday, August 7.
Lord West will meet 82-year-old James Woolley who as a teenager witnessed
the Battle of Britain in the skies above Kent while supporting the war effort
as a heavy goods vehicle fitter.
Figures published by the Identity and Passport Service (IPS) show that
519,000 people from Britain’s wartime generation have benefited from a free
