QUITO, Ecuador – Yesterday, Aeromexico, Mexico’s largest global airline, submitted to Corporacion Quiport, the company operating the concession for Mariscal Sucre International Airport, its new Quito – Mexico City route, featuring daily flights between the two capitals.

With the addition of this new destination, Aeromexico is becoming the only airline to offer direct flights between Ecuador and Mexico, as well as the Mexican airline with the largest presence in the Latin American region, with 12 cities.

Mario Rosas, Director of International Sales for the airline noted, “We are very pleased to initiate flights to this important destination, demonstrating our commitment to satisfy the tourism and commercial needs of our most important customers.”

Carlos Criado, for his part, Director of Business Development for Corporacion Quiport, said, “the fact that Aeromexico is commencing flights at our airport before it has completed its first year of operations clearly shows that Quito Airport offers operational advantages to enable airlines to open new routes profitably.” He observed, moreover, that Quiport has been promoting Quito and Ecuador as a major destination since 2009, when it began the work of developing routes as a general strategy of the company.
