RwandAir has just confirmed that Douala, the airline’s 16th destination overall and 5th in West Africa, will see the launch flight take off from Kigali on March 30.

The aircraft used on the route will be a CRJ900NextGen, featuring 7 seats in business class and 68 in economy class. The new route to Cameroon will be served initially four times a week on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday and passengers connecting via Kigali to RwandAir’s East African destinations or to Dubai will have timely onward flights without long waiting periods.

Now operating with a fleet of four Boeing B737s, two -800NG and two -700NG, and two Bombardier DRJ900s the next brand new aircraft is due for delivery in just a few weeks’ time when by the end of February a Bombardier Q400, also configured with a business and economy class cabin layout, will be delivered, replacing a Dash 8-200 turboprop on the domestic route to Kamembe and near regional routes to Bujumbura and Entebbe, among others.

Also planned for this year is the launch of another destination in West Africa, Abidjan/Ivory Coast, which will then be RwandAir’s 6th in West Africa after Brazzaville, Libreville, Douala, Lagos, and Accra further extending its footprint across the continent.
