Korean Air has announced that a code-share partnership with Aurora Airlines on the route between Incheon-Sakhalin commenced 1 January 2014. Aurora Airlines (Russian: Аврора) is a Russian Far East air carrier and a subsidiary of Aeroflot, created by merging SAT Airlines and Vladivostok Air. Aurora Airlines flies to 18 cities in 4 countries with 13 aircraft including the B737.

Aurora Airlines’ flights code-shared by Korean Air to Sakhalin are operated by a B737 aircraft, seating 110 passengers. Aurora Airlines’ flights depart from Incheon International Airport on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sundays at 12:00 noon and arrive in Sakhalin at 16:45 the same day. The return flights depart from Sakhalin at 09:30, arriving Seoul Incheon at 10:50 the next day.

Alongside Korean Air’s current routes between Incheon-Moscow (five flights a week) and Incheon-Vladivostok (daily), the codeshare flights to Sakhalin will provide increased convenience and choice to passengers travelling to Russia.

Codeshare is an aviation business partnership through which a flight operated by one airline is jointly marketed as a flight by one or more other airlines. The purpose of a code share is to facilitate travel for customers by allowing them to travel across the networks of multiple airlines with a single reservation, in order to reach their final destination

Korean Air currently has code share partnerships with 30 airlines worldwide, including SkyTeam partner airlines such as Delta and Air France. Korean Air will continue to expand opportunities for code share partnerships in order to provide the most convenient schedules for its passengers.
