The Tourism Society has welcomed thw UK Government announcements today regarding the increase in funding and commitment to run the GREAT campaign, the extension of the Coastal Communities Fund to 2017 and investment in key airport infrastructure.

Chairman David Curtis-Brignell commented “There is real concern that Britain will lose out as a result of the delay in the provision of additional runways which could take until 2030. Improving access to Gatwick and a commitment to studies in transport improvements for Heathrow and Stansted is welcome, but we will need to see interim measures taken to increase capacity if we are going to be able to welcome the forecast increase in overseas visitors in the next decade.”
