VIENTIANE, Laos – Lao Airlines flight QV301 from Vientiane to Pakse 14:00-15:55 crashed while landing into the Mekong.
Thai television showed a photograph of the ATR 72 turboprop plane partly submerged in shallow water on a stretch of the Mekong, the tail severed. Another television channel showed what appeared to be several bodies on the bank of the river.
According to several sources there were no survivors among the 35 passengers and 4 airline staff. Lao Airlines has not yet published any passenger list or released any official statement.
