The awards represent the combined opinions of approximately 350,000 reviews submitted in the last year by verified toptable diners for more than 4,000 restaurants across the UK.

Critically acclaimed London institution Restaurant Gordon Ramsay tops the list. The Fat Duck also earned high praise. This critically acclaimed restaurant from Chef Heston Blumenthal is nestled in a 16th century building in the idyllic village of Bray and is famous for its use of molecular gastronomy.

London represents the largest metropolitan area of winning restaurants with 20 of the 50 best restaurants including Petrus, The Ledbury and The Greenhouse. Scotland is also well represented with six Glaswegian restaurants making it onto the list and three from Edinburgh.

Restaurants serving French cuisine accounted for nearly 30% of winners with European and British fare not far behind at 22% and 18% respectively. Other cuisines were also well represented including Indian, Gastropubs and Chinese.

The Diners’ Choice Awards for the Top 50 Best Restaurants for Service in the UK are generated from approximately 350,000 reviews collected from verified toptable diners between September 2012 and August 2013.
