Garuda Indonesia Airline was chosen “Best in Region: Asia and Australasia” in the Passenger Choice Award 2013, outranking Singapore Airlines, Qantas Airways, Cathay Pacific, Air New Zealand, and Pakistan Airlines, the five other finalists in this category.

Skytrax CEO, Edward Plasteid, and Richard Quest of CNN personally handed the award to the Director of Service of Garuda Indonesia Inc., Faik Fahmi, during the “Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) Award Ceremony” in Anaheim, California, USA, on September 9, 2013.

Aside from winning in the Best in Region: Asia and Australasia category, Garuda Indonesia was also among the “Top 5 Best Overall Passenger Experience,” “Top 5 Best Ground Experience,” and “Top 5 Best In-flight Publication.”

In 2012 Garuda Indonesia was named: “The World’s Best Regional Airline” and awarded the “World’s Best Economy Class” earlier this year.

The winner of each category was decided through a flight experience satisfactory survey conducted on all airlines passengers worldwide. While the survey itself was conducted online via www.passengerchoiceawards.com during the course between mid-2012 to June 30, 2013. The results of the survey were then tabulated by the Nielsen Company Global Survey Institute.

CEO of Garuda Indonesia, Emirsyah Satar, later said that the achievement was the results of the hard work and strong commitment of all Garuda Indonesia staff members and employees in providing the best services to customers in line with the company’s vision as a “Global Player.” He added that the awards received will also boost the motivation to continue the “Quantum Leap 2011-2015” program in which Garuda Indonesia, which today operates 194 aircrafts, is determined to become a five star airline by 2015.

Now, Jakarta-Ambon direct flights

Meanwhile, in the latest development, Garuda Indonesia announced that the airline now also flies Jakarta-Ambon direct. With this flight Garuda has two flights daily to Ambon from Jakarta, one via Makassar, and the most recent one connecting the two cities direct. GA 646 leaves Jakarta daily at 08.30 hours, arriving Ambon at 1400 hours Central Indonesia Time. The return flight (GA 647) leaves Ambon at 14.45 Central Indonesia Time to arrive in Jakarta at 16.15 hrs. West Indonesia Time. The flight uses B737-8i00 NG aircraft with a capacity for 156 passengers, 144 in economy and 12 in business class.
