PENSACOLA, FL – The flight from New Orleans to Orlando had a mechanical issue, which is now under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.

The airline made an emergency landing today due to the engine problem.

In a Southwest Airlines statement, they say the flight was diverted to Pensacola International Airport, where it landed safely.

They say the 99 passengers and five crew members on board were not injured.

“The aircraft is out of service, and we will work to accommodate the passengers to Orlando or their final destination as soon as possible” they said.

Pictures taken on-board appear to show the engine was blown apart.
