Madrid will be on eTN. eTurboNews (eTN) is excited to welcome the Madrid Visitors & Convention Bureau (MV&CB) as a sponsor for the upcoming months until the end of this year. MV&CB is the body which has, since January 1, 2012, been responsible for promoting the city of Madrid throughout the world, to attract both business and leisure tourism and to provide assistance to travelers. This public body, attached to the Municipal Department for The Arts, Sports and Tourism, brings together the work previously done by Promocion Madrid and the Madrid Tourist Board.

The aim of MV&CB is to promote Madrid as a destination for leisure tourism nationally and internationally. To achieve this it has a range of tools at its disposal, including publicity campaigns, organizing and attending events in the main target markets, and managing its own communication channels, such as its official website esMADRID.com , esMADRIDmagazine, and the guide to the city, “Madrid. A Way of Life.”

Another of MV&CB’s commitments is to manage the traveler’s experience once they have arrived in the city. A range of quality services are available, including a number of tourist products designed to increase visitors’ satisfaction so that their experience of the city is a positive one encouraging them to return. It also publishes guidebooks, maps, and leaflets, which can be of great help to visitors during their stay. Among these services is the Official Guided Tours Program, an ambitious scheme covering several areas of the city allowing tourists to enjoy seeing the city in an entertaining and interesting way. There are also a number of loyalty programs for visitors.

MV&CB also manages the city’s ten tourist information points. The main office is located in Plaza Mayor and there is another large agency in Plaza de Colon. A number of other information points have been set up in areas frequented by tourists, such as Plaza de Cibeles, Callao, and the vicinity of the Reina Sofia Museum, and there is also a mobile information point. All these points have been awarded the “Q” tourism quality mark, and AENOR has certified that all the facilities and services at the Plaza Mayor Tourist Centre comply with current legislation regarding accessibility.

MV&CB’s competences also include attracting MICE tourism through the Madrid Convention Bureau (MCB), one of its most important departments. The Madrid City Council set up the MCB in 1984 in order to promote the city as a destination for all kinds of congresses, conventions, fairs, corporate events, exhibitions, presentations of products and services, incentive travel, and professional training. Madrid has all the necessary infrastructure for hosting events of this kind and, as the MCB’s own slogan says, for “Making Business a Pleasure.”
