ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates – A summer camp organized by the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority is being attended by 60 Emirati students aged between 15 and 17, all hoping to gain insight into the tourism industry.

At the start of the three-week course, the young people took a bus tour of Yas Island’s major tourist attractions, including Yas Beach, Yas Marina, Yas Viceroy, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Yas Waterworld and Yas Links.

“It is vital that the next generation of Abu Dhabi tourism ambassadors understand how we are leveraging the emirate’s past in the developments driving its tourism future,” said workshop chairperson Karim El Guanaini, the vice president of Destination Management at Yas Island. “The students had not expected to encounter Arabian influences built into many of the island’s attractions.”

Students will attend more workshops over the coming weeks and will embark on fact-finding field trips to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, the Zayed Centre, Abu Dhabi Pearl Journey, The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort and the Manarat Al Saadiyat exhibition centre.
