Flying Lufthansa with a pet? A warning about greed and blackmail

A family from Vienna was planning for a long time to visit their friends. They planned a trip to Dublin with their pet dog Lasso, but it got ruined due to an airplane mistake.

They had to travel from Vienna to Dublin through Frankfurt. Their journey was divided into two legs and was travelling through German carrier Lufthansa. The family safely reached to Frankfurt and was going to board their second flight when they were informed by an airline worker that they cannot take the dog.

The worker was of the view that the transport box was too small to carry the dog. It was quite shocking as the dog has travelled in the same airline during its first leg of journey.

The worker gave an option that the dog can be carried into pet cargo. But that would cost them 890 Euro for one-side ticket. Moreover, the family was the next day ticket and overnight stay would have added to the cost.

The family had a discussion and they cancelled their trip to Ireland and visited Latvia to visit their family. The rescheduled trip also made them spend an extra 1500 Euro.

“I later found out Lufthansa had simply forgotten to check the dog in. Out holiday was ruined. Just changing our flights alone cost 1500 Euro”, said Family father Nathan S.
