LOS ANGELES, California – In line with Movenpick Hotels & Resorts’ philosophy to create a better future, Movenpick Hotel Hanoi in Vietnam has been committed to sustainability and corporate responsibility for years. This upscale property impresses with a significantly low environmental footprint and an outstanding CSR program – all efforts were recently awarded Green Globe certification.

“By nature, the hospitality industry is a large consumer of energy and other resources,” said Philip Jones, General Manager at the Movenpick Hotel Hanoi. “At Movenpick Hotels and Resorts we aim to minimize our impact by integrating basic measures, such as energy efficient lighting, reduction of water consumption, and a better management of waste and chemicals. To ensure the proper implementation of this policy, we have developed specific objectives, and will monitor performance against these objectives. We are proud of our achievements and will challenge ourselves to improve the standards, since sustainability is an ongoing process.”

The Movenpick Hotel Hanoi supports a number of social and fund raising activities, contributing to a positive community and environment. For three consecutive years, the hotel successfully organized a golf tournament named “A Great Day out for A Good Cause,” to benefit two selected charities: “KOTO” – a vocational training center for street and disadvantaged youth in Vietnam, and “Heartbeat Vietnam” – a lifesaving fund for children with heart defects. In addition, the hotel donates 10% of all proceeds from the “Children’s Power Bites” menu item sales to their preferred charities.

Raising awareness for the VinaCapital Foundation’s (VCF) many programs is of great importance to the Movenpick Hotel Hanoi. The VinaCapital Foundation’s mission is to empower the children and youth of Vietnam by providing opportunities for growth, health, and education projects. VCF’s Heartbeat Vietnam program funds lifesaving heart surgery for poor children in Vietnam, continuing care and family grants, mobile medical outreach clinics, and scholarships for Heartbeat Vietnam alumni. Over the years, this program has grown to not only provide this grassroots lifeline to underserved children and families, but to actively increase pediatric medical capacity by equipment donations, doctor’s and nurse’s education, critical care training, neonatal intensive care unit construction, and rural outreach clinics. In the past seven years nearly 3,000 children have been saved by Heartbeat Vietnam.
