(eTN) – It was always an interest for me to visit and to know more about the Liechtenstein, as a country I heard a lot of. I know its known to have beautiful landscapes and attractions. The chance to meet an official Liechtenstein contact came during the Austrian Travel Trade & Adventure Days that took place in Spielberg in Austria during April 2013.

It was a pleasure meeting Ms. Renate Bachmann, from Liechtenstein marketing, where she welcomed me and explained some of the attractions in Liechtenstein.

Here is my interview.

First, this is really a pleasure for me to meet with you, to learn and to get more information about your country to pass onto my readers. Can you tell me please some basic information about Liechtenstein.

Liechtenstein is a traditional and modern country in the heart of Europe. Its area is only 160 km2, and the population is around 37,000. The climate is between 20 to 28 C in the summer and minus 15 C in the winter. German is the official language, and the Swiss franc is the currency. The Head of State is the reigning Prince Hans-Adam II.

The system of state is a constitutional hereditary monarchy on a democratic and parliamentary basi. Its Parliament is only 25 elected members. The European Schengen Visa is acceptable as we are part of the European Union. Our national day is on August 15, where all the people of our country and their guests join together to celebrate music and joyous laughter fills the streets of our capital, Vaduz.

How would someone travel to Liechtenstein?

You can reach my country from Switzerland or Austria via an extensive road network. A sticker is required to use the Swiss and Austrian motorways. From our border it’s 110 km to Zurich, 390 km to Geneva, 235 km to Munich, and 250 km to Milan. Our country is 115 km from Zurich Airport, and Liechtenstein is also reachable by bus or train.

What is the main attraction for tourists in Liechtenstein?

My country, Liechtenstein, is white in winter, warm in summer, fresh in spring, and colorful in autumn. It’s a mountains and valley destination, and whenever you come, wherever you go, you will receive a warmhearted welcome.

During winter time, the Malbun area offers children, young and old, exactly what it takes for a carefree winter holiday with four different types of trails for beginners and for advanced cross-country skiers. We offer slopes for classical skiing or skating. We’re a healthy 1,600 meters above sea level.

Liechtenstein is the ideal spot for a vacation especially for families. The sun is warm, the air is clean, and the pastures are lush green. Spring time is very special in my country where the amazing landscape invites hiking and biking.

Liechtenstein has art museums, theaters, music concerts, carnivals, historical sights, and before all, the princely culinary delights. We are the land of milk and honey, and dishes, and gourmet specialities from all around the world. Among local dishes you will find Kasknopfile (a noodle pasta with cheese) or Ribel (a local grain variety).

What about the Falconry Center that appears in your brochure?

When the peregrine falcon named Move dives centimeters past your head at 300 km per hour during the summer months, it almost takes your breath away. Then the golden eagle takes off, circles overhead, and returns to the hand of the falconer. Here, you can take a trek with the falconer and his birds of prey and experience the powerful beat of the eagle’s wings at every turn.

My last question is about meetings and conferences in Liechtenstein.

Liechtenstein is not only impressive because of its charming location for vacations, it’s also a great destination for a simple meeting or a large conference. We will support events and organaiztions from A to Z to assure that the event will be unforgettable.

Thank you Ms. Renata for your time. Do you have anything you would like to add?

Yes, I invite travel agents and tourists to visit our website:
