FRANKFURT, Germany – ENIT, the Italian State Tourist Board, will participate in the 11th edition of IMEX, a major promotions platform for the international meetings industry. The aim is to make Italy the protagonist of top destinations for business tourism around the world, as well as to support the activity of internationalization of businesses in the sector. From May 21-23, approximately 9,000 tour operators from all over the world, and active in the field of conference, congress, and incentive travel, will meet in the German financial capital to present the latest news on the sector and conclude business negotiations.

ENIT, as coordinator of the national offer, will organize the participation of Italian tour operators in one single exhibition space representing the entire conference supply chain. At the 3-day event, 58 Italian tour operators will participate, including convention bureaus and product clubs, hotel chains, congress centers, PCOs, and DMCs, all gathered at the ENIT/Italia Stand D400 in Hall 8. Two large corners of the Italy stand, organized and managed by ENIT, are dedicated respectively to Roma Capitaleโ€™s offer and Spazio Veneto. The traditional briefing for Italian tour operators will be held at the Frankfurt exhibition on Monday, May 20, in the presence of Andrea Babbi, ENITโ€™s Director General.

The promotional activities will continue at the ENIT stand with 15 group appointments and presentations reserved to selected groups of international buyers by Italian exhibitors. On May 21, the agency, Toscana Promozione, will showcase the regional MICE offer during a press conference for journalists and operators. A โ€œHappy Hourโ€ to taste the famous Italian cake, panettone, offered by โ€œThe Hub Hotelโ€ will take place at 5:00 pm at the ENIT space. The working sessions will end with a promotional event in the evening hosted by the Emilia Romagna region, โ€œEmilia Romagna -Your event our destination,โ€ dedicated exclusively to the trade sector.

Thanks to the immense cultural and artistic heritage, the diversity and richness of the landscape, and also to the excellence of the Italian offer, from food and wine to design and fashion, Italy is one of the countries most in demand for the organization of events and affirms its positioning among the top ten MICE destinations worldwide. According to the 2012 statistics of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), Italy confirms its position at 6th place in the international country ranking measured by number of meetings organized, after USA, Germany, Spain, United Kingdom, and France.
