JAL Group releases passenger traffic results for 2013 Golden Week vacation period

TOKYO, Japan – JAL Group (JAL) announced today, passenger traffic results for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation that stretched from Friday, April 26 to Monday, May 6, 2013.

TOKYO, Japan – JAL Group (JAL) announced today, passenger traffic results for the annual Japanese “Golden Week” vacation that stretched from Friday, April 26 to Monday, May 6, 2013.

Compared to holiday period last year, Capacity during this period is 2.9% more on international routes and 4.0% more on domestic routes. JAL carried a total of 246,479 passengers on its international flights and 1,030,706 passengers on the Group’s domestic flights, which represent a 1.1% decrease in travellers that went abroad, and 1.7% increase in travel within the country versus a year ago.

Due to decline in demand on China and Korea routes owing to territorial issues, the total passenger count on the international routes has been approximately one percentage point down compared to last fiscal year. Otherwise the passenger count on S.E. Asia has been greatly increased against the last year. In addition, the seat load factors on routes to resort destinations like as Transpacific and Taiwan routes are more than 80.0 %.

Domestically, JAL offered more capacity than last year, meanwhile the total passenger count has been approximately two percentage points increased against last year.
