India’s 1st integreted tourism complex to come up at Tirupati


Hyderabad (TVLW) – The country’s first integrated tourism complex comprising a five-star hotel, convention centre and golf course among other facilities will come up at south India’s leading religious centre Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.

The proposed ‘Integrated Tourism, Hospitality, Leisure and Entertainment Complex will also have a helipad, health spa, sports complex, bowling alley and open-air cultural auditorium.

The Tirupathi Urban Development Authority (TUDA) on Wednesday invited Expression of Interest (EoI) from developers to finance and build these facilities under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) route.

The selected developer will be required to undertake the integrated hotel and leisure complex project on Build- Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis for a period of 33 years.

The tourism complex project, for which the EoI can be submitted till December 29 to TUDA, will form part of the overall development of temple town of Tirupati and incldues setting up of a Special Economic Zone for IT/ITES, international standard tourism township at an estimated cost of Rs 1,200 crore and an urban entertainment centre.

The development projects to be undertaken at Tirupati will also include setting up of a pharma university, medical college and expansion of airport.

Tirupati, the gateway to the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, attracts about two crore pilgrims from India and abroad every year and the number is expected to go up in future with development of additional facilities.
