DUBAI, UAE – Emirates Airline has signed a five-year deal to sponsor the French Open tennis tournament, the Dubai carrier has announced.

DUBAI, UAE – Emirates Airline has signed a five-year deal to sponsor the French Open tennis tournament, the Dubai carrier has announced.

Under the terms of the deal, Emirates will display its logo on tennis courts at the tournament, which is also known as the Roland Garros after the famous French aviator.

The airline will also have access to corporate hospitality suites during the event, Emirates said in a statement issued in conjunction with the tournament organizer.

The deal begins with the upcoming Roland Garros tournament, which starts on May 21.

The announcement was made in Paris by Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline, and Jean Gachassin, president of the French Federation of Tennis.

โ€œAppropriately named after famed French aviation pioneer and tennis supporter Roland Garros, this tournament is a natural extension of our existing tennis sponsorship portfolio,โ€ said Clark.

โ€œWatched by millions around the globe this acclaimed clay court championship is the perfect platform with which to align our brand,โ€ he added.

Emirates has several other tennis sponsorships including the Italian Open, Barcelona Open, US Open and the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championship.

It also emerged this week that Emirates plans to extend its links with Real Madrid football club with a shirt-sponsorship deal worth $33 million a year. The carrier is set to sign a four-year deal with the club on April 30, according to the Spanish newspaper Marca. Emirates declined to comment on that deal.

Emirates already sponsors high-profile football teams like Arsenal FC, AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain and Hamburger SV.
