LOS ANGELES, California – “If you want to be successful in the event sector these days, you have to follow the green trend in the market and deliver a sustainable product,” said Oliver Hoeppner, Division Manager at the Kongress Palais Kassel.

In 2009 the Kongress Palais Kassel was the first conference center in Germany to receive Green Globe certification, and Green Globe is proud to announce re-certification of this historic venue. Having secured a pioneering role in the market, the Kongress Palais Kassel has demonstrated leadership and innovation in the fields of operational efficiency and social responsibility over the past few years.

“Sustainability includes the responsible use of resources, with a focus on top operational performance and quality. Customers approach us with very specific enquiries, and working with Green Globe provides us with the tools needed to educate our staff on sustainable practices and to meet our client’s expectations. We are very proud to earn this prestigious award, which demonstrates our commitment to ensure ongoing responsible practices,” Mr. Hoeppner added.

A long-term Sustainability Management System is in effect at the Kongress Palais Kassel, environmental goals and operational performance is strictly monitored. Some of the best practices include the integration of an event carbon footprint calculator, use of eco-certified cleaning products, recycled and biodegradable materials, waste separation, and ecological waste disposal. The purchasing policy favors regional and environmentally-friendly products for building materials, capital goods, food, and consumables.

“Mindful sustainability management and regular meetings of our green team, the Quality Circle, contribute to our success,” added Oliver Hoeppner. “Our Quality Circle initiates important steps and measures, relevant to facility management, marketing, material planning, sales and quality management, and the team oversees the implementation into our business operation.”

Visitors are invited to arrive by train and event tickets include free public transportation. As part of events and general business activities the Kongress Palais Kassel supports many charitable organizations and social projects worldwide, such as “World Famine Relief.”
