NEW YORK – Veteran aviation journalists Darren Shannon and Andrew Compart have joined Aviation Week’s commercial editorial team as senior editors based in Washington, DC.

Shannon is a former managing editor for the Americas at Flight International and a US editor for online newswire Air Transport Intelligence. During his career as a journalist, Shannon has also held senior editing and writing positions at publications including Travel Agent Magazine, World Airline News and Middle East Economic Digest. In addition, he worked as a manager of media relations for Northwest Airlines.

Prior to joining Aviation Week, Compart covered the airline business and the US Transportation Department for 10 years at Travel Weekly. He has also written for Army, Navy and Air Force Times and the York Daily Record in York, Pennsylvania.
