NEW YORK, New York – The first recipients of the Alfred Pisani Corinthia Hotels Scholarship, Genevieve Arnold and Phillip Rogers – students in the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies (NYU-SCPS) Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism, and Sports Management undergraduate program – noted the role the scholarship played in helping them achieve their academic and career goals as they look forward to graduation. Launched in support of students at the NYU-SCPS Tisch Center, the scholarships were awarded to Arnold and Rogers for 2012/2013 academic year.

The Alfred Pisani Corinthia Hotels Scholarship program, established by Corinthia Hotels Founder and Group Chairman Alfred Pisani, consists of two $10,000 scholarships (total of $20,000 per year) awarded annually to financially needy and deserving NYU-SCPS Tisch Center undergraduate students who are pursuing degrees in the fields of hotel and tourism management.

“We are especially pleased that the first scholarship winners were coincidentally interns at our Corinthia Hotels in Malta, and we are delighted they had the opportunity to experience firsthand the ‘spirit of Corinthia’ and the warm Maltese hospitality,” said Pisani. “We hope that their time with Corinthia has enriched them professionally, and we wish them well in achieving their career goals in the hospitality field when they graduate NYU.”

Arnold and Rogers interned for eight weeks in Corinthia Hotels in Malta in the summer of 2012. The internship provided the students with hands-on hospitality training as well as the opportunity to learn about another culture. They both attributed the warm reception from the staff and Mr. Pisani’s personal leadership and ‘craftsmanship of care’ philosophy to contributing to their overall positive experience.

NYU-SCPS Tisch Center Divisional Dean Bjorn Hanson said, “We are thankful to Corinthia and Chairman Pisani for generously supporting the cost of Genevieve and Phillip’s education as well as providing them with an international internship that will result in lifelong memorable and valuable personal and career experiences.”
