Due to high fuel prices and other economic factors, Thai Airways International announced in June that it will close the daily JFK – BKK flight beyond July 1, 2008. The news was met with shock within the travel industry.
Thai Airways Customer Service has been working overtime to provide an easy and “smooth as silk” transition experience for New York City outbound travelers this month. In an effort to minimize any inconvenience this decision may cause to its loyal clients, THAI will reroute already-booked departures through Los Angeles (LAX) or provide other options to best accommodate travelers with bookings out of JFK from July 1.
THAI will provide a full refund of the ticket price as purchased, without incursion of any penalty fees. For travelers wishing to keep their travel reservations, THAI will reroute passengers from JFK to LAX via a domestic Economy Class flight, so travelers can travel to Thailand on the LAX-BKK route or fly on other airlines to BKK. For those customers rescheduled on other carriers, THAI will put customers going to BKK from JFK on the same class, meaning Business Class ticket holders will still fly Business Class.
Thai Airways hopes that the transition will take place smoothly for its customer, as the company has made client satisfaction the top of its priorities since it first began service in 1960.
