China and South Korea to showcase culture in Seychelles carnival

The annual carnival of carnivals in Seychelles, the “Carnaval International de Victoria” will see China and South Korean cultures through these country’s distinct interpretation of Taichi Dragon Chinese opera face and Korean Joseon dynasty Royal ceremony.

Amazing Chinese Sichuan opera performances recognized for their master of agility and grace will defy the art of flexibility and control orchestrating the face changing art.

Their ability to perform these astounding acts is rooted for centuries in the Chinese culture.

Amazing Chinese dancers and acrobats will perform daring moves that will be seen as pushing the limits of their creativity. They say that they will be capturing the carnival audience with their incredible talent of Dragon dance and Taichi combined with beautiful sound tracks and costumes.

South Korea on the other hand will present the Joseon dynasty Royal Ceremony. This is a re-enactment of royal ceremony from Joseon dynasty performed by Cham Art Company, a group of Korean traditional music and dance performers.
As they wind the streets of Victoria, the Korean traditional music and dance performers will dance and play traditional “Janggu” drums bringing a spectre of Korean traditional architecture and cavalcade of colours to the “ Carnaval International de Victoria.”

Combining “Taepyungmu” dance with a fusion of Janggu and Jaenggang sounds, the Korean delegation say that they are set to surprise the public in Seychelles.
On the day of the official opening of the carnival in Seychelles on February 8, the Korean delegation is set to perform 5 different Korean traditional dances.

The first one is “Korean Fan Dance,” which will feature 6 female dancers with two fans. The key points of this dance are the sound of opening and closing the fans with their beautiful shapes and patterns they create with fans and silhouette of Korean dress.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
