The latest Colombian travel guide, published in May by Bradt, will be officially launched at the Colombian Ambassador’s residence in London SW1 on July 1st. Guests will get a feel for Colombia and enjoy Colombian delicacies, Latin Music and dancing from the 2008 ‘Cali Salsa World Champions.’

It is the first travel guide to Colombia by a British author and as part of her research, award-winning author Sarah Woods spent several months exploring Colombia’s length and breadth. The trip was sponsored by Proexport Colombia, the Colombian Government Agency responsible for the marketing of Colombia as a tourist destination.

Sarah traveled from the Amazon Basin to La Guajira and the Atlantic and Pacific coastal stretches to the rolling savannahs of Los Llanos. She spent time with indigenous jungle tribes, visited colorful riverside markets, picked coffee, snorkeled off palm-hemmed islands and learned cattle roping skills.

Sarah Woods said, “Colombia was a truly remarkable country to travel – the people are amazing – and there is a strong sense that the country is on the very cusp of a highly-positive era.”

With visitor figures to Colombia up 14% in 2007 from 2006 and triple the number of UK tour operators featuring Colombia than 2 years ago, this new guide is likely to be a best seller!
