In an effort to increase the visibility of Seychelles in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) as well as to other Levant countries, the Seychelles Tourism Office Middle East conducted a two-day educational seminar targeting the travel trade and consumers from November 12-13, 2012 in Amman, Jordan, in collaboration with Petra travel and tourism.

The first day of the seminar was attended by 25 top tour operators and travel agents, and on the second day, the seminar was dedicated to 22 top niche society ladies.

The seminar educated both the travel trade and consumer on the uniqueness of Seychelles in comparison to the other Indian Ocean destinations, showcasing the diversity of its accommodation offerings, activities, and how the destinations can cater to many different segments including, families, couples, groups of friends, spa retreat breaks, weddings and honeymooners, adventure seekers, etc.

“We have seen an increase in demand from Jordan and plan to further increase our activities in this area to increase the Seychelles profile and awareness levels. Conducting this seminar has created much excitement on the destination from both the trade and consumers attending,” said Ahmed Fathallah, Regional Manager, Seychelles Tourism Office, Middle East.

“The seminar was a great success and was very interactive with a lot of interest and questions on the destination. We believe we will start to see some positive growth out of this market,โ€ said Fathallah.

Seychelles is a founding member of the International Coalition of Tourism Partners (ICTP).
