United, Delta and American Air update customers on flight operations in Northeast

FORT WORTH, Texas – Due to severe weather projected for the Northeast tomorrow, American Airlines and American Eagle are suspending operations at a several airports in the region beginning tomorrow afternoon. Operational Impact

American Airlines and American Eagle are suspending operations tomorrow, Nov. 7, in Philadelphia (PHL) at noon and at all New York-area airports by 3 p.m. Operations at these airports are expected to start up again the morning of Thursday, Nov. 8. American and American Eagle have canceled approximately 290 flights to, from and through these airports on Nov. 7 and 8. Additional delays and cancellations may occur as American resumes operations in New York and Philadelphia.

Options for our Customers

Customers whose tickets were issued no later than Nov. 6 and are scheduled to travel Nov. 7 or Nov. 8 on American Airlines, American Eagle or AmericanConnection flights to, from or through the airports listed below may change flights without penalty, have the ticket-reissue charge waived for one ticket change, and begin travel as late as Nov. 15 under American’s current travel waiver.

To change travel dates, customers may contact American Reservations at 1-800-433-7300 within the U.S. or Canada. Customers calling from outside the U.S. or Canada are encouraged to check American’s Worldwide Reservations Numbers page on AA.com. American has increased its reservations staff over the next few days to help with the expected increase in call volume. As a result, hold times may be longer than usual.

Delta Air Lines is offering customers whose flight plans may be affected by severe storms in New York City and Philadelphia the ability to make one-time changes to their travel schedules, Nov. 6-8, without incurring fees. Delta encourages customers to consider departing earlier, postponing or re-routing their travel to avoid possible inconvenience from expected flight delays and cancellations.

Customers booked on Delta-ticketed flights to, from or through the following airports Nov. 6 through Nov. 8 may rebook for travel with the same origin and destination. New flights may occur before or after original travel dates as long as they are ticketed and rescheduled for travel on or before Nov. 16, 2012.

Flight delays are likely at airports in locations listed above as a result of high winds and heavy rain. Delta will proactively reduce flight schedules to minimize delays.

Delta encourages customers to make changes and manage their travel at delta.com and using the Fly Delta app. All customers traveling in impacted markets should check their flight status via delta.com or the Fly Delta app before arriving at the airport.
Changes to origin or destination may result in a fare increase, and any fare difference between the original ticket and the new ticket will be collected at the time of rebooking. Customers whose flights are cancelled may request refunds.

United Airlines today announced the company will suspend most service to and from the New York area between noon Wednesday, Nov. 7, and noon Thursday, Nov. 8, as a result of the winter storm forecast for the region. Weather conditions will likely cause additional delays and cancellations at other northeast airports.

At Newark Liberty International Airport, between noon Wednesday and noon Thursday, the airline intends to operate its long-haul international flights and flights to and from the airline’s other hubs, but will suspend most of its remaining services.

At John F. Kennedy International and LaGuardia airports, United intends to operate most flights before noon, with all services then suspended through noon Thursday.

Where possible, United has proactively rebooked travelers ticketed with connections at Newark Liberty through the airline’s other hubs.

Checking Flight Status and Changing Travel Plans

Customers ticketed on flights to, from or through airports in the path of the storm from Nov. 6 through Nov. 8 may reschedule their itineraries for travel originating no later than Nov. 15 with a one-time date or time change, and the airline will waive the change fees and any additional fare that might otherwise apply.

Airports impacted are Allentown, Pa.; Hartford, Conn.; Manchester, N.H.; New York/Newark (Liberty, Kennedy and LaGuardia); Philadelphia; and White Plains, N.Y.
