Travel Channel International announced its partnership with World Travel Market, the leading global event for the travel industry, as opening ceremony sponsor for 2012.

As part of the deal, Travel Channel will produce a stand-alone, thirty-minute documentary feature from WTM which it will broadcast across its fast-expanding network, which is currently available in 130 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Travel Channel will also produce a series of short-film elements that will feature in the opening ceremony and sponsor the post-opening celebration.

Travel Channel International has recently been acquired by Scripps Networks International, the international development arm of Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI) which owns and operates some of the most recognisable and popular television networks in the US.

Reed Travel Exhibitions Chairman World Travel Market Fiona Jeffery OBE said: โ€œWorld Travel Market is delighted to again be working the Travel Channel International. WTM has a ten-year long relationship with Travel Channel, which has seen it produce a number of top-quality programs and features over recent years.

โ€œThis yearโ€™s Opening Ceremony is poised to be one of the best-ever with ex-Burger King CEO Barry Gibbon addressing the industry and supported by Travel Channel International broadcast expertise.โ€

Scripps UK/EMEA Managing Director Jonathan Sichel added: โ€œThis is an incredibly exciting time for Travel Channel International as we increase investment in programming and marketing and continue to build our global brand. 2012 marks the tenth year of our hugely-successful partnership with World Travel Market, and this important relationship is pivotal to our global trade marketing strategy. We look forward to welcoming the worldโ€™s travel industry leaders to London and are proud to support WTM 2012.โ€
