REDWOOD CITY, CA – Online travel search engine, cFares announced today the appointment of Tom Kalinske as CEO, as well as the close of additional equity financing for a total of $7.6 million, led by Oakland, California-based Claremont Creek Ventures and Garage Technology Ventures.

“I’m thrilled to be part of a company that solves such an important problem for consumers, said Tom Kalinske, newly-appointed CEO of cFares. “In these tough economic times, finding the best deals and doing more with less is a huge priority, and we’re very pleased to have the support from our investors to continue helping consumers easily find the cheapest fares.”

Tom joins cFares from Leapfrog where he served as CEO and helped the now well-known brand grow from a small niche company in 1997 to the largest supplier of educational products content and toys for children in the world. Prior to that, Tom was CEO of Knowledge Universe; Sega Video Games; Matchbox, Inc.; and Mattel, Inc. He has extensive experience building consumer brands and looks forward to elevating the cFares brand as the go-to resource for consumer and business travel online.

cFares is a travel meta-search site that searches the Internet and connects leisure and small business travelers directly to airline and online travel agency sites to help them find the best deals. cFares is able to identify the lowest fares, provide discounts for its Platinum members, and offers helpful tools that filter and sort results, so travelers can easily find the best flight for them.

“cFares differentiates itself in the market with a new technological approach and access to below market rates, addressing needs of both the consumer and the airline industry,” said Nat Goldhaber, managing senior partner from Claremont Creek Venture Partners. “With these advantages and the company’s proven management team, cFares is on its way to becoming a leading and trustworthy resource in online travel.”
