The key highlights this year included benefits on business, learning, and networking. The number of new Asia-Pacific MICE suppliers increases every year. This year’s exhibition holds new participating companies, forming close to 50% of total exhibitors. A new prime exhibitor was Destination Dubai with a 24 sqm booth followed by 90 other corporates from Asia and Southeast Asia. The event had a 95% return of NTOs who had exhibited last year indicating that these destinations value the event as an effective business and publicity platform. The percentage of new MICE buyers is at an all time high of 63%, with new Corporate Travel Manager participants at 40% ensuring that exhibitors are constantly selling their work each year. New buying faces this year include Austria, Mexico, and Peru.

The learning experience this year has set a standard for all delegates with 24 speakers and facilitators from across the world who will deliver a total of 12 education sessions. The learning sessions are supported by Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) Asia making it a comprehensive and relevant program that is driven by best practices and backed by research data analyzed and tailored to the Asia-Pacific context. A few GBTA-led educational sessions included Fundamentals of Business Travel Management, The Global Travel Management Exchange Forum for Travel Managers, Outlook & Economic Forecast for Business Travel in Asia and Around the World.

With the choc-a-bloc appointment schedule sheets, delegates were happy with the quantity and quality of their appointments.

Buyers at the event were pleased with companies exhibiting this year. Said buyer Ms. Hema Chabria, Proprietor of In-Time Travel, India, said, “We are getting into the MICE space, handling small groups of high-end clients and offering customized service solutions to meet their needs. IT&CMA and CTW Asia-Pacific offers us a great platform to source for destinations and services that fit the bill.”

Mr. Ben Gosman, President of Free Style Incentives, Netherlands, said: “This is my fifth time at the event. This is a good show for me and a great platform to meet up with industry friends and suppliers. The show is always well organized.”

IT&CMA SEMINARS AND CTW ASIA-PACIFIC CONFERENCE

These sessions were scheduled in a way that allows delegates to attend them without it interfering with their business appointments.

Seminar Session 1, “The Relevance of Associations for the Meetings Industry,” kicked off the IT&CMA learning sessions. With the strengthening role of associations in Asia-Pacific, this well-timed seminar covered the importance of standardization in the association industry across the world.

The CTW Asia-Pacific conference also began with the simultaneously held sessions, “Where the Airline Challenges and Opportunities Are” and “Strategic Meetings Management Program (SMPP): A Global Case Study on Cisco Systems.” The day also featured two sessions covering Travel Management Companies (TMCs) and hotels respectively, titled, “Sound TMC Solutions for MNCs in China” and “Can Your Hotel Program Be in Better Shape.”

CTW Asia-Pacific this year had a revised format, with focus on creating value and providing more comprehensive content.
