As part of the 25th birthday celebrations of the leading global event for the meetings, incentive, and business travel industry, EIBTM will host its first “EIBTM Forum,” an opening conference, taking place the day before the exhibition opens, at 4:30 pm on Monday, November 26, in the Fira Montjuic, Barcelona.

The EIBTM Forum will welcome Barbara Kellerman, a lecturer in Public Leadership at Harvard University, ranked by Forbes.com as one of the “Top 50 Business Thinkers” as the keynote speaker.

Barbara will share her valuable insight through her session, “The End of Leadership,” that will challenge the explosive growth of the leadership industry and the belief that leading is a path to power and money. Through her exploration of this apparent contradiction, she will paint a far more provocative picture of leadership and followership in the 21st century. Kellerman believes that leaders are losing power and influence, while followers are gaining it.

The EIBTM Forum will also be the platform for the presentation of the first ever ‘EIBTM Lifetime Achievement Award,’ which will be given to a figure head of the international meetings industry in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the sector over the last twenty-five years.

Following the event, there will be an invitation only reception at the Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona where guests will be able to network and enjoy the new meetings facilities following a two year renovation. Click here for more information on the EIBTM Forum.

Graeme Barnett, Exhibition Director, EIBTM commented, “The Forum is an exciting new initiative and part of our continual evolution of EIBTM. Having listened to Barbara Kellerman speak recently in the US, I can promise a thoroughly entertaining yet thought provoking and provocative session, suitable for business professionals at any level of their career.

“I am also delighted that the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced at The Forum. We want this event to be an inspiring start to our 25th anniversary edition and provide a new opportunity to kick off the networking that is so much a part of EIBTM.”

Those interested in attending the EIBTM Forum should register to guarantee their place. Click here for more information on the EIBTM Forum.

EIBTM 2012 takes place 27th โ€“ 29th November, Fira Gran Via Barcelona, and the EIBTM Forum will take place on 26th November in Fira Montjuic, Barcelona City Centre.
