Seychelles stands by La Reunion and France bid for UNWTO Executive Council Meeting next year

Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism & Culture, who was in Paris for Top Resa 2012 and who is also the President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Regional Organization, said that he was supporting the bid by France and the island of La Reunion to be the organizers of the next UN World Tourism Organization’s (UNWTO) Executive Council Meeting set for May 2013.

“This bid is not only a bid by the island of la Reunion, but it is also one for the grouping of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands,” Minister Alain St.Ange said, “Through La Reunion hosting the Executive Committee Meeting of the UNWTO, the Indian Ocean zone will be showcased as will be the dynamic spirit of cooperation that exists between the Seychelles, Mauritius, La Reunion, Madagascar, Mayotte, and the Comoros.”

This event, if held on La Reunion island, will also help in the development of tourism of the region as a whole and will showcase the existing regional and international cooperation that exists for the benefit of the population of all the people of the islands of that important region.
