United Airlines awards 11 new vehicles to employees with perfect attendance

CHICAGO, Ill.

CHICAGO, Ill. – United Airlines today will celebrate the perfect attendance of 11 employees at an event at Chicago O’Hare International Airport and award each employee a new Ford vehicle this weekend.

The employees, representing six work groups and based in seven cities around the globe, each achieved perfect attendance during at least one of three six-month periods beginning July 1, 2010. Thousands of employees were eligible, and United randomly selected 11 winners in a drawing in May. Each winner chose between a Ford Explorer, a Ford Escape, a Ford Mustang and a Ford Focus. The company will pay all expenses associated with the vehicle, including sales tax, title and license.

“Our people and their commitment to service and reliability are at the core of our effort to build the world’s leading airline,” said Donna Towle, vice president of Employee Relations at United. “Perfect attendance facilitates a work environment of dependability and trust, and enables us to provide our customers with consistent, reliable service.”

Eligible employees may participate in an annual drawing to win a new vehicle, with the company awarding 11 new cars each year.

Employees are also eligible for a rolling six-month perfect attendance award of $50 cash, a $50 donation to United’s employee relief fund on the employee’s behalf, or 5,000 frequent flyer miles.

The airline has awarded employees more than 180 new vehicles since the Perfect Attendance Program began in 1996.
