Relief Riders International, award-winning humanitarian-based adventure travel and voluntourism company, announced its extension of year-round sustainability programs.

Since 2004, Relief Riders International has helped over 18,000 people, including 12,000 children, who are considered below poverty level in Rajasthan, India. The company organizes unique horseback riding adventures that offer individuals not only an exhilarating journey through breathtaking remote areas, but also the opportunity to assist in delivering life-changing medical, educational, and food aid to those in need. Through these specially-designed trips, both the travelers, known as Relief Riders, and the rural Rajasthani villagers, are transformed by the experience.

For the past 9 years, RRIโ€™s Relief Rides have taken place three times a year between the months of November and March. This year, for the first time, they have been able to design purposeful and effective new programs, and continue their previous seasonal programs on a year-round basis. These programs were specially designed to meet the specific needs of the communities that RRI serves.
The new year-round programs will target early childhood care, offering access to regular healthcare check-ups, treatments, and medical referrals to pregnant women and disadvantaged children under the age of 6 in the slums of Jaipur. They will also focus on the empowerment of underprivileged young women in Rajasthan’s urban slums, helping them to overcome the obstacles of traditional gender roles and income disparities that have plagued this demographic for more than 3 decades. Additionally, RRI will continue their efforts of organizing much-needed dental and medical camps in rural areas throughout the year.

โ€œThis announcement marks a significant first step on the path towards providing the desperately needed year-round services to those in need,โ€ remarked RRI founder Alexander Souri, โ€œWe couldnโ€™t have accomplished this without the tremendous hard work of our team and the unwavering support from our donors and Alumni Riders. Itโ€™s a truly exciting time to be a part of this organization, and weโ€™re looking forward to continuing our work on a more consistent, sustainable basis.โ€

RRI credits their strong partnership with Anubhooti Society for their continued ability to provide consistent support to the communities they serve. Anubhooti Society is an NGO founded by Dr. Mahesh Arora (RRI’s Executive Medical Director), whose mission is to serve vulnerable people from underprivileged sections of society.

Relief Riders International is now taking reservations for its next 3 scheduled trips: the Pushkar Relief Ride on November 13-28, 2012; the Bikaner Relief Ride on February 2-16, 2013; and the Chanod Relief Ride February 25-March 10, 2013.
