NEWARK, NJ – Porter Airlines officially opened its new passenger lounge at Newark Liberty International Airport. The lounge is beside Porter’s primary gate in Terminal B, providing easy access to departing flights.

“The Newark lounge is the latest element of our desire to emphasize speed, convenience and service for all of our customers,” said Robert Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines. “This is now a distinguishing feature for everyone who flies with us from the Greater New York and New Jersey areas.”

Porter lounges are a highlight of the customer experience. Open to every Porter passenger, the lounges feature comfortable seating, WiFi, cold beverages, specialty coffees and snacks. Newark joins Toronto and Ottawa as Porter destinations with complimentary lounge access.

The opening festivities included participation from the Consulate General of Canada in New York, Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation (OTMPC), and The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Passengers were treated to tastings of Ontario wine and cheese. OTMPC travel counselors also provided customized advice to people visiting the province.

“Entrepreneurs are the key to creating jobs and growth for the Canadian economy,” said the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism). “The opening of Porter Airlines’ Newark lounge makes a great first impression on travellers coming to Canada and helps strengthen our ties with our American neighbours through improved business and leisure travel.”

“Porter Airlines’ new Newark facility will enhance the comfort of visitors coming from the United States to Ontario for business and vacation,” said Michael Chan, Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport. “Porter Airlines links visitors to excellent tourism destinations throughout Ontario, from Windsor to Sault St. Marie to Sudbury. Porter offers up to 13 daily roundtrip flights between Newark and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, making it one of the airline’s busiest routes. Convenient connecting flights are available to numerous other Canadian destinations, including six in Ontario – Windsor, Ottawa, Timmins, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie and Timmins.

“Porter Airlines is a critical part of our non-stop effort to give our customers at Newark Liberty the best airport experience in the world,” said Port Authority Deputy Executive Director Bill Baroni. “Our partnership with Porter will add another level of service to our customers and mark the continuing investment that the Port Authority and our private partners are making in the future of air travel in the region.”
