“Regional Tourism Integration: a collaborative approach to air access requirements” is the topic of discussion on the agenda at the 2012 World Routes in Abu Dhabi that will be guided in an open forum by the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands.

The Vanilla Islands briefing will be held on Monday, October 1 at 0930-1020 hours in the Routes Talks Tourism Theatre at World Routes. This discussion panel will be chaired by Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture, who is also the President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands and a founding member of the International Council of Tourism Partners (ICTP). Professor Geoffrey Lipman, a former Deputy Secretary General of UNWTO and now President of ICTP, will be part of the discussion panel for this discussion panel.

The Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands is a regional body comprised of the Seychelles, La Reunion, Mauritius, Madagascar, Mayotte, Comoros, Rodrigues of Mauritius, Praslin of the Seychelles, Nosy Bay of Madagascar, and La Digue of the Seychelles. At their regional body’s last General Meeting in La Reunion, it was decided that the Republic of Maldives be invited to also join this Indian Ocean Islands grouping.

It was at the La Reunion meeting a week ago that Alain St.Ange, the President of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands, proposed to President Didier Robert of La Reunion and Minister Michael Sik Yuen of Mauritius to join together for a discussion forum at the World Routes Forum in Abu Dhabi.
