LOS ANGELES, California – Green Globe announced certification of the Qbic Hotel Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Over the past few years, this 4-star hotel has demonstrated an innovative approach to minimizing its impact on the environment, and ranks among the greenest hotels in the Netherlands.

โ€œWe are proud to earn the prestigious Green Globe Certification and international recognition,โ€ said Rino Soeters, Director at Qbic Hotels, โ€œWe wish to contribute to society and the environment, and working with Green Globe Certifications has given us practical guidelines for actual and continued sustainable entrepreneurship. Our certification process was supported by Duurzame Hotels Nederland, and without their expertise and the overwhelming dedication of our staff, this achievement would not have been possible within such a short period of time.โ€

A long-term sustainability management system is in effect at the Qbic Hotel Amsterdam, and energy goals are strictly monitored. Packaging is reduced to a minimum, and the property supports regionally-available recycling programs. Waste volume and weight is measured daily. Awareness is promoted among guests at multiple levels, cleaning of bed linen and bathrooms is provided every four days, and all cleaning products are eco-labeled. The hotel is a member and sponsor of โ€œNatuurmonumenten,โ€ a non-profit society dedicated to improving the quality of life in the Netherlands, by preserving nature, the landscape, and cultural history.

The key element of the Qbic Hotel consists of a cube-shaped living space, called Cubi. Each Cubi has a practical configuration, individually designed and built with sustainable materials, offering sleeping comfort and a unique experience. A Cubi is a state-of-the-art living environment and features an extra-long, hand-made Haestens bed, Philip Stark design bathroom elements, LCD TV, safe, and high-speed Internet. Practical panels enable guests to create different atmospheres and moods: Mellow Yellow, Red Romance, or Deep Purple Love.

Green Globe Certificationโ€™s CEO, Guido Bauer, said: โ€œWe are very pleased to certify the Qbic Hotel Amsterdam in the Netherlands. I am impressed with Qbicโ€™s innovative concept and their dedication to responsible tourism. We are working with other properties in the Bergere Group to achieve the same recognition very soon.โ€
