Following in the footsteps of Seychelles President James Michel’s familiarization visit in the district of Beau Vallon when he visited a spice and fruit plantation with one of the best panoramic views, the Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, rallied a delegation from the Seychelles Tourism Board, the District Administration, and the Culture Department to visit Keven Contoret’s spice and fruit plantation at La Batie at Beau Vallon. This small entrepreneur plans to convert his place into a tourist attraction where visitors will enjoy the nature and scenery of Beau Vallon through a proposed nature trail that had but weeks ago impressed President Michel during his own visit. The island’s Tourism and Culture Minister said that this project will be a new tourism attraction.

Managed and run by Keven Contoret and his family, the spice and fruit plantation boasts a purely organic and natural environment. Overlooking the breathtaking view of Beau Vallon, the plantation produces a variety of exotic spices and fruit trees, and it is opened for visitors to explore the fields and groves of spices and fruit trees.

The Seychelles Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, and his delegation toured the plantation to understand the project concept being proposed by Keven Contoret and his family.

Shouldered by the staff of the marketing section and Josh Cesar, the Manager of Quality and Standard in the enhancement section of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Minister St.Ange threw out ideas to Keven Contoret on how he could move his small business forward into a tourism product with a difference

Minister St.Ange discussed with Keven Contoret the possibility of transforming the existing kiosks overlooking the bay of Beau Vallon into a small restaurant where after a long nature walk up to the property and a walk into the spice and fruit plantation, visitors could enjoy the fresh products from the gardens.

It was discussed that visitors could sit back and enjoy fresh refreshments prepared from the fruits and spices grown in the plantation and savor home-cooked pancakes with all the fresh fruits and spices with flavors of the Contoret’s family cooking.

“It is clear the existing product has the potential to be developed into a commercial tourism entity and to be listed as one of the attractions proposed by the Destination Management Company (DMCs) to their clients on excursions,” Minister Alain St.Ange said.

The Minister has asked Josh Cesar, the Manager of Quality and Standard at the Tourism Board to work with and to guide Keven Contoret in the development plans of his business.

The Minister said upon completion of the work, he will invite the Destination Management Companies to visit Keven Contoret’s spice and fruit plantation and experience the product together, and they will also discover the artisanal products manufactured by Guiselle, the sister of Keven Contoret.
