AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands – WYSE Travel Confederation and SYTA Youth Foundation, the philanthropic arm of SYTA, are pleased to announce their partnership in hosting a special networking event and fundraiser at the upcoming World Youth and Student Travel Conference (WYSTC) in San Diego, California, from September 18-21, 2012.
As thanks to SYTA members’ continued support and attendance of WYSE Travel Confederation events, WYSE Travel Confederation, the world’s largest network of youth and student travel operators, is offering SYTA members who have not previously attended WYSTC, a special 25 pecent discount off non-member rates to attend in 2012. (Please see this link for further details.)
WYSTC, endorsed by the UNWTO and UNESCO, is the essential student and youth travel networking event. Now in its 21st year, this year’s conference already boasts a record high percentage of CEOs, directors, presidents, and managers in attendance, and promises a wider array of participating organizations than previous years.
WYSE Travel Confederation is excited to partner with SYTA, the non-profit, professional trade association that promotes student and youth travel, as it allows both to expand their networks while remaining focused on a common goal – to promote and create valuable travel experiences for young people that enhance personal and professional growth.
During the WYSTC conference, SYTA Youth Foundation and WYSE Travel Confederation will launch a joint fundraising event to raise money for student travel scholarships. The After Dinner Party Fundraiser will be held on Thursday, September 20 at 21:00 at the Hard Rock Cafe in San Diego’s iconic Gaslamp District. Admission to the party is US$50, a portion of which will be donated to support student scholarships, which have proven to have a lasting impact on a young person’s life.
Said Espen Faulkenhaug, Director General at WYSE, “We are delighted to be partnering with SYTA Youth Foundation during WYSTC, especially raising money together to enable young people who can’t afford to travel and experience the world. For us, this is a measureable return on investment – travel is a major force for development in a young person’s life.”
As part of its partnership with WYSE Travel Confederation, SYTA will also be presenting its first ever Youth First International Award during the WYSTC Student Awards Luncheon. The award will recognize an individual who has made an extraordinary contribution to students and youth in the travel industry. SYTA has presented a US-based version of this award; however, SYTA’s new award is for the international travel community.
