With Seychelles earnestly going after its share of the Chinese market, the Seychelles Tourism Board and its partners are participating in two tourism activities – the International Travel Expo (ITE) and a tourism workshop, so as to maintain and boost the islands visibility in China.

A tourism delegation comprised of members of the Seychelles Tourism Board and its partners who remain serious in wanting to work with the Tourism Board to develop tourism, has traveled to Hong Kong, where ITE is currently taking place.

The Seychelles Tourism Board is being represented at ITE by its Chief Executive Officer Elsia Grandcourt and Marketing Dxecutives Stephanie Lablache and Jean-Luc Lia Lam, and supported by partners Desroches island, represented by Demetier Vaubell ([email protected]), 7˚ South with representative Lanqiu Qi ([email protected],), Vision Voyage with Shirish Dhanjee ([email protected]), and Seychelles Connect with representative Daniella Payet ([email protected]).

Together, they have taken to the Seychelles stand at ITE, which started on June 14 and will end on June 17.

Now in its 26th edition, ITE is among the earliest established travel fairs of Asia, and it is Hong Kong’s only one, which also covers China, particularly southern China.

Covering both corporate travel and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions), as well as attracting over 11,000 visitors, ITE is a prime venue to further penetrate the Chinese market and attract potential holidaymakers of the region and beyond, as over 80 percent of its exhibitors are from outside of Hong Kong.

Today, the Chinese outbound market is the world’s third biggest source market in international tourism, and by 2015 it is predicted to become the number one globally.

The delegation is at ITE as the recent visitors’ arrival report of the Seychelles National Bureau of Statistic shows that visitors arriving to Seychelles from China are up some 103 percent, compared to the same period last year. This indicates that Seychelles’ strategy of diversifying its market into China and other emerging markets is paying off.

The travel fair of Hong Kong will be succeeded by a tourism workshop in the third largest city of China, Guangzhou, so as to further boost Seychelles’ presence within the region and explore new business possibilities.

The workshop has been organized jointly by the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Embassy of Seychelles in China in collaboration with partner airline, Emirates. It will be attended by Emirates Airline’s Sales Executive for Guangzhou, Fiona Zhang, along with the same representatives of the Seychelles Tourism Board and local partners that are at the Seychelles stand at ITE. They will be joined at the workshop by Constance Hotels with its representative Vivienne Su ([email protected]).

The workshop will include presentations on the destination and participating companies, followed by one-to-one meetings with the invited professionals in the travel business of Guangzhou, whom will at the end of the event be entered into a lucky draw to win prizes.

This week, the Seychelles is hosting a group of 19 young Chinese couples who traveled to Seychelles with a big contingent of Chinese press for their weddings and honeymoons in paradise.
